Pattern

Exploration

A freshman studio exploration using plant species native to the Adirondacks as source material.

The brief was simple: abstract nature into pattern, then translate pattern into three-dimensional space. What started as 2D studies in Illustrator became physical form, tracing the organic rhythm of local ecology into something tangible.

SKILLS DEVELOPED:

  • 2D to 3D Translation & Spatial Abstraction

  • Digital Pattern Making (Adobe Illustrator)

  • Ecological Observation & Nature-Inspired Design

  • Physical Model Fabrication

DIGITAL ABSTRACTIONS

From the final Illustrator patterns, the most dynamic abstractions were extruded into bold three-dimensional geometries. This process took natural forms and reinterpreted them through a contemporary digital lens.
