MY FOREIGN HOME
Leaving home for a new country is a journey filled with excitement, challenges, and deep longing for familiarity.
This documentary follows three international students from Spain, Brazil, and France as they adjust to life at Syracuse University. Through their experiences, they face homesickness, immerse themselves in new cultures, and build connections that help transform an unfamiliar place into a home.
Through personal interviews and a glimpse into their daily lives, this film explores the universal need for belonging and the power of community in shaping the international student experience. I followed them through their routines, whether studying in the library, attending classes, or unwinding at a party, always bringing my camera along to capture the raw, unfiltered moments of their journey.
My Foreign Home is a personal project. As someone who has spent her whole life navigating what it means to belong somewhere, following these three students felt less like filmmaking and more like recognition.
